Molecule Mobile En Route

Here's how a 15-foot molecule looks like right before a cross-country trip! Bon voyage! Matt and Ben will meet up with the molecule in Philadelphia later this month to add finishing touches and complete the installation.

Oooooklahoma!

We've been commissioned to create a set of mobiles for a new elementary school in Oklahoma City. The folks at the school requested mobiles inspired by the lyrics of that catchy showtune:

"Ooook-lahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain,

And the waving' wheat, can sure smell sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain!"

We had a ton of fun creating these wind- and rain-inspired designs...and now that song is always stuck in our heads.

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you and your loved ones the happiest of holidays!

Molecule Mobile

Seven years ago, we were commissioned to create some 15-foot-wide hanging sculptures for a pharmaceutical company based on chemical compounds the company had developed. Right now, Matt is up to his eyeballs in molecular materials, creating a third molecule-shaped mobile for them! We'll install the newest addition next month.

Cincinnati Photographs

A full year ago, we completed a ceiling feature for a Cincinnati-based municipal building. We are thrilled that we just got our hands on some professional images of the piece. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Table

We hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! The Ekko gang, plus their kiddos, friends, and family members enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast together at this table. Ben and Matt designed and built the table after hours, and Ben finished it up in the nick of time, at 1:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. During feast preparations, Ben's daughter took residence under the masterpiece, and it held up nicely under several platefuls of turkey, stuffing, Brussels sprouts, and so much pie.

Blast from the Past

While Matt was in Green Bay last week, he drove to nearby De Pere, Wisconsin, to check out a mobile he provided to St. Norbert's College three years ago. These iPhone snapshots don't do it justice (you can see a professional image here), but rest assured, Matt was pleased to see the mobile hanging in person. He especially enjoyed seeing how visible the mobile was from outside the building!

Foth Mobile

Matt spent Monday installing this mobile in the lobby of Foth, a Green Bay, Wisconsin-based engineering firm. He thoroughly enjoyed working with fellow detail-oriented engineers, and the collaboration resulted in a last-minute length-change to ensure the mobile lined up properly with the second-story mezzanine and the lobby's air vents (to ensure maximum movement). Once some replacement cable was procured, the installation went swimmingly!

Double Progress

It's always exciting to see a project make huge progress, and it's double—no triple—exciting to see two projects make significant progress. For example, we just received these laser-cut shapes for this mobile

And this mobile is finished up and en route to Green Bay, Wisconsin!

Mobile Materials

Over the next couple of weeks, these humble materials:

will be transformed into this 10-foot-tall by 15-foot-wide mobile:

The final piece will hang in the commons area of a Green Bay, Wisconsin-based engineering firm.
