Matt and Ben are in New York spending a ton of quality time in this booth, selling their Ekko Workshop wares. A few new items have been added to the Ekko Workshop line, including a small, wooden version of this mobile we created last year, plus a few colorful iterations of our Sculpture Squared building kits.
Local Wall and Ceiling Sculpture
Here's another project in our queue:
This is a wall and ceiling sculpture combo that will reside in the entry hallway of an affordable housing complex here in Portland. We love local projects, so we're thrilled about it. Stay tuned for updates!
Outdoor Kinetic Sculpture
Here's a fun project in our queue:
We will be creating a set of three identical outdoor kinetic sculpture like this for a public space in Flagstaff, Arizona. We're looking forward to seeing them come to life in the coming months!
Progression-Style Projects
A few years back, we completed this large hanging mobile, Progression, to span the entry hallway of an Educare facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
It was one of those projects where we learned a ton along the way—and we've received so much positive feedback about the end result. The next year, we created a similar design for a YMCA, and we currently have two Progression-inspired pieces in our queue.
We've tinkered with the design, allowing us to make it modular, so to speak, so we can customize it for any space. It's one of our all-time favorite designs, so we're always thrilled to revisit it!
This one is for a healthcare center for a remote village in Alaska:
And this one is for a hospital in Cincinnati:
Stay tuned to see progress pictures!
Cincinnati Medical Office Mobile Installation
Not to bore you with weather chit chat, but Portland has been hit really hard this winter—ice storms, freezing rain, snow storms, you name it. And this fair city is just not equipped to handle all those extremes.
Matt and Ben have made it into work just fine, but when a historical snowstorm dumped more than a foot on the city last Wednesday, they were worried it would jeopardize their travels the next morning to Cincinnati for an installation—an installation they had already postponed because of weather-related problems.
Well, they braved the elements, drove to the airport in Matt's trusty Subaru, averaging 15 miles per hour on the snow-covered freeways. Miraculously, the flight was NOT cancelled—and the installation occurred without a hitch. Thank goodness.
And here a few pictures to prove it. Enjoy!
Lighting Project Photos
Before we shipped the lighting mobile to its home on the East Coast, Ben snapped a few images with his fancy camera against a white backdrop. Enjoy!

Ekko Workshop in AIA Magazine
Our friend Jenny at Guggenheim Architecture and Design Studio came across our Ekko Workshop Standing Circles Desktop Mobile in her latest issue of American Institute of Architects Magazine. What a fun surprise!
You can also see it online here. (And we'd like to add that it's great for NON procrastinators as well...)
Large Custom Hanging Mobile for Cincinnati Medical Office
Here's one of the projects we're focused on right now:
We're making this large custom mobile for a Cincinnati-based hospital. It will hang 25 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter, with 54 brightly colored aluminum discs. We're scheduled to install it next week, so stay tuned for photos of the process!
Ekko Workshop at Modern Art Museum of Forth Worth
A friend visiting Texas for the holidays sent us this photo of our Ekko Workshop desktop mobiles on display at the gift shop of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Man, we loving seeing our mobiles out in the wild!
Happy Holidays from Ekko Mobiles!
Look who managed to sneak away from the shop for a day! Hope your holidays are also filled with fun and happiness.
