Matt has been working like crazy to finish up a few projects that need to be installed soon. Once the crates shipped to their installation sites, Matt took a break to visit family in Utah. His sister enlisted him (thanks to his ability to do basically anything) to help install hammocks at her cabin. Such a productive vacation!
Virtual Installation
The mobiles for the Miami-based pediatric medical facility are en route, and the client is tackling the installation themselves. Matt created a thorough video to explain installation process, complete with diagrams, charts, and detailed demonstrations. (That detail-oriented engineering background comes in handy!)
Butterfly Mobile Progress
We’re putting the final touches on the mobiles headed to the Miami-based pediatric medical facility. Here are some pictures of the butterfly shapes and parts of the mobile hanging in our shop. (Don’t worry, it’ll look a thousand times better in the lobby where it will reside!)
Miami Butterfly Mobile Renderings
We’ve been working on a fun project for the newly renovated lobby of Miami-based pediatric medical facility. It includes two groups of mobiles. One section will feature a chandelier-like mobile made of streamlined tubes. The second section will be a series of butterfly mobiles that spans a long hallway.
We’re making major headway on this right now, so stay tuned for progress pictures!
Miami Mobile Progress
We’ve made major headway on the massive mobile for the Miami condo building. It’s hard to fit the entire thing in the frame, but you get the idea. Be sure to admire the beefy connection point below. (Not an easy feat!)
Summer Fun-ish
Well 2020 certainly has been the year of adjusting expectations. Matt’s family cancelled a spring break trip to Hawaii and a summer trip to Iceland. So this week, they jetted off to a cabin in northern Washington for Hawaii-ish and Iceland-ish activities.
Fish Light Mobile Collaboration
Here’s the fish light mobile Matt created with the artists from HiiH Lights. We’re probably biased, but we think it turned out so cool! The new owner picked it up today to take to his lake house near Seattle.
Massive Miami Mobile Components
Just to show the scale of the Miami mobile we’re creating, here are some of the Matt-sized shapes and super-thick rod. (Matt is really proud of his ability to bend that rod!)
Massive Miami Mobile
Here’s a rendering of a mobile we’re making for a high-end condo building in Miami. It’s a pretty straightforward mid-century-inspired design…but it’s going to be enormous—15 feet tall by 25 feet wide. Mobiles that large pose challenges in the building process, but we’re up to the task. Stay tuned for progress pictures.
Fish Light Mobile
We’re collaborating with the artists from HiiH Lights to make a fish-themed light mobile. HiiH Lights creates amazing paper lamps, so they will provide the fish sculptures, while Matt will build the frame. Right now, Matt is using boring old cardboard as placeholders for the fish, so stay tuned to see the final product!
