Here are pictures of some of the fish for the Florida hospital’s fish wall sculpture. The clients are installing this sculpture themselves, so Matt created verrrrrrrry detailed how-to videos. We can’t wait to see pictures of the final piece!
Annual White River Spruce Up
Each winter, Matt and Ben return to Batesville, Arkansas to clean and inspect the White River Mobile. Since it hangs over a hospital food court, the mobile accumulate some grime—and the deep-clean got it sparkling clean, like the day it was installed. (Which is when these picture were taken.) See you next February, White River Mobile!
Daniel Goldstein Collaboration
Here is a project we are thrilled about. It’s a collaborative project with the talented artist Daniel Goldstein. This ceiling sculpture will sweep through the seating area of a hospital cafeteria. Working off Daniel’s design, we will work closely with him to fabricate, build, and install the mobile. We can’t wait to dive in!
Fish Wall Sculpture Rendering
Here are renderings of a project we’re working on for a Florida hospital. This will be a wall sculpture that incorporates brushed stainless-steel fish, “swimming” along a corridor wall.
Bay-Area Hospital Frame Installation
We’ll be the first to admit, these are not the most exciting installation photos. But we wanted to document the different installation approach we’re doing for this particular project.
This frame is for the Bay-area hospital mobile. The facility already had scaffolding onsite, so Matt and Ben traveled to install the frame before the scaffolding was removed. When they’ll return later to complete the mobile, they’ll just need a lift. This approach made things simpler for all parties. Stay tuned to see the final thing!
New York Marriott Marquis Installation
Matt and Ben just returned from a super-quick trip* to New York City to install this ceiling sculpture in the New York City Marriott Marquis in Times Square. (Experiencing such a ghost-town Times Square was certainly unique!)
The installation went totally smoothly, thank goodness.** The hotel security guys had nice things to say about the sculptures. And we especially love seeing so much color reflected onto the walls and ceiling.
*Turns out you can bypass New York’s mandatory quarantine period if you’re in the state for less than 24 hours. (Thank you, New York COVID-19 Hotline!)
**Total time in New York state: 22 hours, 50 minutes.
Annapolis Outdoor Kinetic Sculpture
Here’s a fun project in our queue! It’s an outdoor kinetic sculpture for a private residence in Annapolis. It will stand about 15 feet in diameter and will reside in the center of the home’s circular driveway. The base will be rusted steel with black arms. Below is a rough sketch Matt created and the 3D renderings Ben masterfully created. We’re so excited to see this come together!
Marriott Marquis NYC Materials
In a few weeks, we’ll travel east to install this ceiling sculpture in the New York City Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Meanwhile, here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at the shapes that will become the sculpture.
Happy Holidays, Version 2020
My goodness, what a year. Probably stating the obvious here, but it’s been such a roller coaster ride, full of changes, surprises, disappointments, and frustrations. But we’re so grateful that we’ve made it through in once piece, and we’ve been beyond grateful for every single project we’ve been able to complete this year.
This holiday season, Matt savored some much-needed time off work, enjoying modified traditions with his family, including a day of sledding, hiking, and playing in the snow at Mt. Hood.
This family picture seems to sum up 2020: grief, shock, gritted teeth, and even a bit of good-old fashioned happiness. Anyhow, wishing you and your loved ones peace and joy this holiday season—and wishes for a way, way better 2021!
Bay-Area Hospital Mobile Rendering
Here are renderings for a new project in our queue. This ceiling sculpture will hang in a newly renovated Bay-area hospital. It will hang 30 feet tall by 15 square feet. It incorporates about 300 shapes strung together.
