Metro Plaza Ceiling Sculpture Installation

Matt and Ben just returned from San Jose, California, where they installed three ceiling sculptures at an office facility. Here are some less glamorous shots of the installation process, including the cleared-out space beforehand, the lift used for the install, the lift in the space, and the drop-ceiling that dictates the mounting process. Stay tuned for (much more exciting) pictures of the installed mobiles!

Canyon Springs Leaf Mobile Materials

We’re creating a dangly ceiling sculpture for a medical office building in Arizona. It will feature leaves that match plant species in the surrounding area, with various different patina finishes. Here are the patina options the client gets to choose from.

The Woodlands Hospital Sculpture Fabrication

We’re deep in the fabrication phase of this kinetic sculpture for a hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. The mobile will hang from an enormous 21-foot-diamter frame. We’re creating eight triangles to piece together into an octagon for the frame. Each triangle is 11 feet tall by 8.5 feet wide. (And little behind-the-scenes tidbit: transporting these enormous structures will be no small feat!)

Danville Science Center Installation

Matt and Ben just installed this mobile for the Danville Science Center in Danville, Virginia. It’s our beloved Pre-Fab #3 mobile design, and it works nicely in this space: 1. as a nod to the nearby Dan River and 2. to work around the building’s architectural elements and exposed piping. We never get tired of working Pre-Fab #3 into new spaces!

Admiring Airport Artwork

Matt and Ben aren’t able to walk through a public space without noticing overhead artwork. They especially appreciated this subtle-but-lovely cloud-like ceiling sculpture at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Prototype/Sample

Here’s a quick prototype we created for a project in our pending queue. This allows the client to get a sense for the material and it’s properties, the colors, and how the material behaves. We look forward to working on this one!

Metro Plaza Ceiling Sculpture Materials

We’ve received materials for the three ceiling sculptures we’re making for the Bay-area offices. The first two pictures show the two samples the clients chose between (in different lighting), and below are allllll the shapes we’ll string together!
