We just realized we haven’t shared many updates about the ceiling sculpture we’ve been creating for the California respite center! Here’s a sneak peek at the shapes, prepped and ready for their journey south. We install in a few weeks!
Blue Threads Ceiling Sculpture Progress
Here are progress shots of the Blue Threads Ceiling Sculpture we’re making for a medical office. Next up: powder coating!
Marine Life Animals!
Just got images of the marine animals we made for the Turks and Caicos Sandals Resort, and we’re LOVING them. We had trouble narrowing down which ones to post, so happy scrolling!
Red Thread Redux
Here’s a ceiling sculpture based on our Red Thread design. This will hang over the receptionist desk at a medical office in New York state. The sculpture will include five individual “thread” components intertwined to hang 8 feet wide by 8 feet deep by 4 feet tall. And to really mix things up, this one will be blue! Stay tuned for updates.
Marine Life Photo Shoot
Matt has LOVED working on the marine life animals for the Turks and Caicos Sandals Resort! It’s been a fun combination of artistry, problem solving, and hands-on technical skills—and he thrives when those worlds collide.
Alas, Matt’s abundant abilities do not include photography, so his wife recruited a friend to capture the creatures. (And the friend recruited Matt’s wife to be assistant for the morning. And Matt documented the whole thing.)
We can’t wait to see the final photos!
California Casino Ceiling Sculpture: Install Phase One
Matt and Ben just returned from a mini-installation in California. The casino clients wanted to get a sense of how the copper ribbons would hang in the space, so we installed one of the smallest components. The remainder will be installed later this spring. Stay tuned!
Cafe O'Lei Maui Mobile
The hanging mobile for Cafe O’Lei in Maui is powder coated and ready for its journey across the Pacific! We literally cannot wait to see it in person. [smiling sunglasses face emoji]
More Marine Life!
Sorry for the photo dump, but we wanted to share progress shots of our marine life sculptures for the Sandals Resort and it was hard to narrow down! Next up, powder coating!
Sandals Resort Marine Life
Here’s a super fun project we’ve been working on! We’re creating 15 sculptures of marine life indigenous to the Turks and Caicos for display at a Sandals Resort.
We wanted to create 3-D sculptures that have a line drawing feel to them, so we’re creating mock-ups from laser-cut cardboard, and the final product will be laser-cut stainless steel. Stay tuned for more!
Hello From Seattle
During winter break, Matt and his wife snuck off to Seattle for a few days, where they visited all kinds of touristy but delightful places, including Pike’s Place, Olympic Sculpture Park, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and maybe even the Space Needle... In true engineer-turned-artist fashion, Matt really geeked out on the glass blowing demonstrations at the Chihuly museum.
