Mobile #2

Our new friends in Erie, Pennsylvania were happy with their 15-foot ovals mobile (See October 24), so they came back for more. We love repeat customers!

Below are images (taken in our studio) of the second mobile we created for their offices. It’s a 4-foot tall, 7-foot wide piece with plenty of movement.

North Austin Women's Hospital

Matt just returned from a trip to Texas, installing a mobile in the nearly-completed North Austin Women’s Hospital. Below are a few photos of the final piece. Bear in mind–it’s practically impossible to photograph a 30-foot mobile hanging from a stairwell, so be sure to check out the graphic rendering posted on September 25!

Glass Balance

One of our favorite things? Seeing one of our piece in its final home. So we were excited to receive these photos from the new owner of our Glass Balance:

We love how the sun shines through the glass. Stunning!

Many thanks to Leah Pellegrini, our talented glass artist. We hope these photos generate many more projects incorporating glass, because Leah was a dream to work with!

Newly Added Stuff!

If you haven’t visted our Commissions Gallery, be sure to check it out. We’ve just updated it with a few recent projects. (And a few old ones, too.) Happy browsing!

Glass Shapes

Here’s a little peek at the glass shapes used in our Glass Balance collaboration (see October 4, 2008):

(And in the background of the third photo is a very blurry peek at Matt's experimental foray into a different artistic world: painting!)

Ta Da!

Remember the 15-foot Red Ovals we mentioned on October 8? It’s done! And it’s en route to its new home in an Erie, Pennsylvania office building.

Below is the final thing, pictured in our shop. (Let’s just pretend the ladder, garage door, packaging materials, and other workshop accoutrements aren’t cluttering the shot…)

To give some reference, our shop ceilings are 20 feet tall, the ladder is 17 feet tall, and Matt, pictured below with one of the mobile’s largest pieces, is almost 6 feet tall. Yep, this is one massive mobile!

Thinkbutton Mobile

Below are graphic images of a mobile we've created, exclusively for Thinkbutton, a fun website with a great selection of educational toys, games, books, crafts...and mobiles! Check out their site in coming weeks to get your hands on our newest creation.

Ekko Sighting

If you’re in the Seattle area, be sure to check out the new restaurant, Poppy. And while you’re there, be sure to check out the mobile we made especially for it!

Future Mobile Home...

In a few short weeks, a 15-foot Red Ovals (in more colors than red) will suspend from here:

Meanwhile, we’ll be working like mad to make it!

Collaboration

We’re really excited about one of the next projects in our queue: a six-foot Balance made from translucent glass shapes. The shapes are being made by a fellow Portland artist who specializes in glass creations.

The piece will hang above an indoor swimming pool–and the skylights above will help reflect glass and color on the pool.

Stay tuned for photos of the end result!
