Boxes!

Maybe we shouldn't get this excited about something as trivial as a heap of cardboard. But seriously, this is how we feel today: BOXES!!!!!

It's exciting news because it means we're one step closer to getting our Ekko Workshop mobiles launched.

Below are pictures taken at the box maker and at our shop of the final beautiful (yes, we're totally biased) boxes.

Meanwhile, wish us luck getting anything done* in our filled-to-the-gills-with-heaps-of-beautiful-cardboard shop!

*Oh, like finishing up this commission and churning out more Standing Circles Mobiles.

Thankful

We have so much to be thankful for this year: good health, happy families, fun friends, and exciting projects. Oh, and this surprise gift we received yesterday: a lifetime supply of Ekko Mobiles lip balm from our generous friends at Raining Rose! (If you want a tube or two or seventeen, let us know!)

St. Elizabeth's Hospital Mobile

Back in September we sent off a mobile to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Cincinnati, and the kind folks at St. Elizabeth's recently sent along these images of the newly installed mobile.

The blue sky makes such a nice backdrop!

November DWR Catalog

My goodness, the November Design Within Reach catalog is as stunning as ever. (Fall leaves, a vintage station wagon, and the Egg Chair, all on one perfectly styled cover!? Amazing.)

Oh, and we're especially loving page 26.

Raining Rose Mobile

Next up on our Iowa for Ekko tour: Cedar Rapids, home of Raining Rose, an organic lip-balm company. We installed an 18-foot-tall mobile in the lobby of their new (stunning) corporate headquarters. This particular installation was fantastic in every way possible: hanging the mobile went smoothly, the tour of the facility was fascinating, and the Raining Rose souvenirs we were received by the lip-balm addicts back home.

Iowa for Ekko

First stop on the double-header installation trip last week: Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

The 16-foot-tall mobile was installed in the college's student union center.

A good-sized crowed gathered to watch the installation. Which sure worked out nicely for the Iowa for Obama rally held shortly thereafter.

Ok, so the students may have been more enamored with the rally spokesman Justin Long (former "I'm a Mac" guy) than our mobile, but we did catch Justin looking enamored with the mobile.

Iowa x 2

Somehow we ended up with two separate projects in Iowa that both needed October installations. So Matt and Ben headed out this week for a double-header install.

Here's Matt installing the first mobile in the lobby of Simpson College's student center.

Tomorrow, Matt and Ben head to Cedar Rapids to install the second mobile in the new corporate headquarters of Raining Rose, an organic lip-balm manufacturer.
