Here's a mobile we made recently for Cool-de-Sac, a kid's cafe/entertainment center in Miami. Although you can't really see the mobile in the context of the play area, you can see how we accomplished their request for bright sorbet-like colors:
As Promised...
Spindle, our newest desktop design, is finally available to the masses! Check it out in our shop.
We can also make Spindle in larger sizes. Contact us if you're interested!
Color Matching
Here’s a great example of a custom piece that required some very specific color matching. The interior designer we worked with sent a fabric swatch that contained several interwoven greens, blues, and turquoise hues. We found some great colors that highlighted the various shades, and–voila!–here’s the result:
Better Late Than Never
A few years back, Balance was featured in The Week magazine. Due to various circumstances beyond our control, we didn’t get our hands on a copy of it. Until now. Check it out!
And an up close and personal version:
Many thanks to the kind folks at The Week for digging through the archives to find this!
Sneak Preview
Sorry for the brief absence. We’ve been busy working, playing, enjoying summer…and brainstorming a few new mobile ideas. Here’s a little sneak preview:
A Home for Hidalgo
It’s not everyday that Matt, our head mobile designer, gets to see his pieces in their element. But here he his with a Hidalgo made for a friend’s newborn. It goes great with that painting, eh?

Custom Mobiles 101
One of our favorite things to do around here is promotional mobiles. We love seeing all the clever ways to incorporate mobiles into a marketing plan, event, press kit, or whatever.
When we work with clients on promotional mobiles here are a few things we’ll discuss with you up front:
Quantity. How many pieces are you going to need? Ten? Or ten thousand?
Timeframe. Are you going to need your mobiles in two weeks or two months?
Design. Did you have a design in mind? Or do you need us to design your mobile?
Budget. We’ve made promotional mobiles for just about every budget–from a couple bucks apiece to a couple thousand bucks apiece. We’ll work with your budget to determine materials, design complexity, packaging, and turnaround time.
If you’re cooking up a fun way to use some promotional mobiles, let us know! Contact us at info@ekkomobiles.com or 877.278.3199.

SemiSwing in Singapore
We were excited to receive these photos today from recent Ekko Mobile recipient in Singapore.
The mobile, SemiSwing, hangs 10-feet tall with a 5-foot span at its widest point. Each of the semi-circular elements spins independently. The recipient strategically placed the mobile below an air conditioning vent, providing plenty of airflow for the freely moving mobile.
She selected the color scheme from a painting that hangs on the opposite wall. We think the mobile adds a lively splash of color to her neutral (and very lovely!) living room.
Happy Birthday, Red Ovals!
Red Ovals just celebrated its two-year birthday!
You see, it was two years ago that Matt, Ekko’s head-honcho mobile artist, and his wife were expecting their first child. Matt was teased mercilessly because he hadn’t yet made a mobile for his impending baby, (What’s that saying about the cobbler’s kids?) so he and his eight-months-pregnant wife took their favorite elements from their favorite Ekko designs and came up with Red Ovals.
It turned out WAY too big for the baby’s nursery, so it hung in their living room instead.
The baby came six weeks later, and Red Ovals had her mesmerized from day three (her first day home from the hospital).
Nine months later, the family said a sad goodbye to Red Ovals, when it was acquired by DDP Gallery in Fayetteville, Arkansas. But it was just as well, since shortly thereafter, the family moved cross country to a much smaller dwelling without room for a (relatively) massive Red Ovals.
The baby (who is actually now a toddler) is approaching her second birthday. She’s hoping for a mini-red ovals. Check the shop in late July to see if that pans out…
