Lobby Sculpture Installation

Whew. The lobby sculpture for the Jersey City high-rise apartment is complete, and it was an intense installation. Let’s just say, there’s no quick, easy way to string up 5,000 individual shapes. (Believe us, we’ve brainstormed.)

Matt and Ben ended up staying an addition day to complete the installation, but they’re so happy with the end result. The piece definitely adds pops of color the client requested!

Medical City Ceiling Sculpture Video

The folks at Medical City Heart Hospital in Dallas made a fun time-lapse of our video last week. (You can tell Ben logged a lot of steps that day!)

We also loved this note they e-mailed us: “Thank you so much for all your work to complete our lobby installation in time for the opening event. The mobile is beautiful and has exceeded our expectations for the space. It sets the right tone to welcome our patients and visitors and was right on time and on budget.”

Lobby Sculpture Progress

Matt and Ben are in New Jersey this week installing this lobby sculpture in a brand-new high-end apartment building. It’s gonna be a full week. Normally installations take a day or two, and they’ve scheduled four full days to complete this one!

These pictures show some of the staging process. It’s not terribly exciting, but getting everything organized up front makes the process much more efficient. The last photo is a sneak peek into the final piece!

Bon Voyage

Our next four weeks include: four installations in four different cities, a weekend camping trip (to celebrate Matt’s son’s 9th birthday!), and a joint family vacation for Matt’s and Ben’s families. We’re not sure it’s all humanly possible, but we’re about to find out! Stay tuned…

Good E-mail

We really love these two types of e-mails:

  1. We want to work with you.

  2. We’re glad we worked with you.

This e-mail, from our clients at Yale, is the latter type, and it sure made our day.

“You have given us such a magical creation. I wanted you to know our gratitude and the wonder it is already inspiring. The group feels you hit a home run.”

Paper Chain People Ceiling Sculpture

We managed to drag ourselves home from the forest, and now we’re back to the grind. We have a busy few months head!

Here’s one project in our queue. This sculpture will hang in the lobby of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The clients wanted something to liven up the area, but didn’t want anything too abstract. So we took their logo—a paper chain of two people—and designed this feature, which incorporates tons of little paper-chain people. (Except the paper people will actually be METAL.) We’re excited to see it come together!
