Our newest Ekko Workshop desktop mobile is officially for sale! It’s inspired by our Mosaic Mobile, which we first created nearly ten years ago, so we creatively named it Mosaic Desktop Mobile. Head on over to www.ekkoworkshop.com to get your hands on one!
Park Restaurant Ceiling Sculpture
Here are pictures of the restaurant ceiling sculpture fully installed! As you can see, the restaurant is still under construction—the bar top was being installed the day Matt and Ben arrived—but you can still get the feel for the great aesthetic of the space.
We imagine that bar area will be bustling, so the felt material of the ceiling sculpture should nicely dampen the noise
We can’t wait to see pictures of the restaurant once it’s complete. If you find yourself in Columbia, Missouri, be sure to eat at Park Restaurant (and then send us pictures)!
Restaurant Ceiling Sculpture Installation
Matt and Ben are in Columbia, Missouri as we speak, finishing up an installation for the bar area of a new restaurant.
Some hangups with installation site schedule required Matt and Ben to get creative with their time and resources. The work site wasn’t quite ready for them to access, so their rental minivan (randomly upgraded from economy) turned into an assembly workspace.
Once they were able to access the site, all went smoothly. Time consuming and tedious, but smoothly. Final installation pictures coming soon!
Red Thread-Inspired Rendering
Here’s a sculpture we’re creating for Pueblo Community College in Colorado. This piece is inspired by the Red Thread Ceiling Sculpture we created earlier this year. It will hang about 20 feet across. Stay tuned for updates!
Valley Children's Hospital Mobile
Matt and Ben trekked to Bakersfield, California last week to install this massive Mosaic-inspired mobile in the new Valley Children’s Hospital.
The mobile’s pieces were so large that instead of building and shipping an enormous crate, the guys rented U-haul and drove 865 miles south. (And just hours after they drove through, a portion of I-5 was shut down for six days, due to wildfires!)
The installation went smoothly, and we’re thrilled with how well the mobile works with the space. (And the guys were especially thrilled to fly home instead of drive.)
Completed Copper Mobile
This copper mobile is finished and headed to its owners in Seattle. We can’t wait to see pictures of it hanging in its final home!
Restaurant Ceiling Sculpture Materials
Next month, we’re traveling to Missouri to install this ceiling sculpture in a brand-new restaurant. We designed the sculpture to incorporate felt shapes, helping the restaurant’s acoustics by absorbing noise from the bar area. The felt shapes will have a wood backing, to provide structure, and we’ll create sets of mini-mobiles strung together to span the bar area. Stay tuned for installation pictures!
Future Mobile Maker?
Matt’s son came home from art camp yesterday, thrilled to share his creation—a stabile!
Copper Mobile Materials
We’re making headway on the copper mobile for a Seattle-area residence. We’re working with the clients to nail down the copper finishes that will be coordinate with their home. Here’s a peek at some options.
Massive Mobile Progress
We’re hyper focused on building this massive mobile for a children’s hospital in Bakersfield, California. The finished piece will hang about 20 feet tall by 20 feet wide, and you can see here how the shapes are monopolizing our shop space. Installation is in September, so stay tuned for final pictures!
