Matt and Ben aren’t able to walk through a public space without noticing overhead artwork. They especially appreciated this subtle-but-lovely cloud-like ceiling sculpture at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Prototype/Sample
Here’s a quick prototype we created for a project in our pending queue. This allows the client to get a sense for the material and it’s properties, the colors, and how the material behaves. We look forward to working on this one!
Metro Plaza Ceiling Sculpture Materials
We’ve received materials for the three ceiling sculptures we’re making for the Bay-area offices. The first two pictures show the two samples the clients chose between (in different lighting), and below are allllll the shapes we’ll string together!
Metro Plaza Sister Ceiling Sculptures
Here’s a fun project in our queue. It’s three different (but similar) ceiling sculptures for three locations at the same office facility. Each sculpture will run about 75 feet long, with a walkway down the middle. This installation is scheduled for November, so we’ll have more updates soon!
The Woodlands Hospital Ceiling Sculpture
Here are renderings of another collaboration we’re doing with artist Daniel Goldstein. This kinetic sculpture will hang more than 50 feet tall in a hospital atrium based in The Woodlands, Texas. We’re excited to see amazing design come together!
Annapolis Outdoor Kinetic Sculpture Installation
Matt just returned from Maryland where he installed the outdoor kinetic sculpture at a private residence. The pictures below show the progression—from crated mobile and empty concrete pads to the full assembled piece. It has some great movement, and we’re so happy with how it looks in front of that gorgeous home!
Lake Tahoe Light Fixture
As a mobile maker, Matt is always admiring lovely stuff that hangs from ceilings. This fun light fixture was spotted at a Lake Tahoe resort where Matt attended his in-laws’ family reunion. (Also feel free to admire the group’s hardcore hikers overlooking Emerald Bay.)
Outdoor Kinetic Sculpture Crate
If you’ve ever wondered how a 15-foot diameter kinetic sculpture travels cross country, here ya go. In an enormous, carefully created crate. (Apron-wearing guy included to show scale.)
Outdoor Sculpture Progress
After some shipping delays on materials and manufacturing and shop-space hiccups, we are nearly (finally!) finished with the Annapolis outdoor kinetic sculpture. The first picture shows how beefy the base is, and the next pictures show the rusted steel finish. We are so excited to get this installed for the world’s most patient clients.
Danville Science Center Mobile
Five years ago we created a mobile for the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond. The science museum has now commissioned us to make a mobile for a satellite museum in Danville, Virginia. We’re creating a Progression-style piece as a nod to the neighboring Dan River. This piece will span the two-story atrium of the newly remodeled science center. We’re excited to dig in!
